Why Housten? Kevin had another Optometry conference his school was flying him out to (for free!), I didn't want to spend our weekend apart, and Kevin's brother volunteered to fly me out too so that we could visit them!
So, we left Thursday on separate planes. I left first, and then Kevin finished classes and such and we met at the Houston airport within 30 minutes of each other! Pretty perfect! That afternoon, we took a cab to our hotel (the cab driver kept trying to rip Kevin off, but Kevin was too smart and savvy to let him get away with it), and we walked over to Olive Garden for dinner! It was great having time with Kevin. I have really missed our time together. With school, callings, finals, work schedules, we rarely get to really stop and have a full conversation with each other...so it was pretty nice to sit down for dinner and talk about things going on and soak in each others company.
The rest of the night, we just kind of lounged around and enjoyed having nothing to do and being with each other. It was pure, BLISS! Kevin liked to refer to it as another honeymoon. In fact, he called it that the whole weekend! haha!
The next morning, Kevin had to wake up at 6 am to take the train to his optometry conference, and I enjoyed a slow morning. Sleep in, eat breakfast, work out, clean up, watch cable tv.
That afternoon, Dave, Jen and Ty guy arrived to the hotel and we went out for Tex mex!!! It was so nice to have great spicey food. Philadelphia has great food and all, but no mexican restaurants, or really spicey food unless it is indian. Most of the places here are either diners, restaurant chains, indian, italian, asain, or plain american. So it was great to have something different for once. Later at night, Kevin joined us, and we chatted a bit, and went to bed.
The next morning, Kevin left again for his optometry conference, and Dave, Jen, Tyler and I headed to the Zoo! It was great to hang out with them during the day and to see the animals!
We then headed back to the hotel, gave Tyler some nap time while we waited for Kevin to come "home" and then left for a Texas Astroid Game. We had great seats, and the game was great. The people behind us, not so great...but that's a whole different story. Tyler loved the game! It was fun watching him get into it!
Later that night, we headed back to that Tex Mex place with Kevin this time (and got some take out). We spent the rest of the night hanging out and chatting. Honestly, I love a low key evening with family! It's nice not having to worry or stress out about anything and to just enjoy each other and laugh.
The next morning, we went to Houston's Space museum. We enjoyed the time with Dave, Jen and Tyler a lot.
Kevin playing in the "Play place" at the museum...he was putting balls up a shooter thing.
Tyler watching and waiting for the balls to fall out of the ceiling! He loved it!
This picture was hard to take! :)
Thanks again for the awesome weekend... Dave, Jen, and Tyler! It was great seeing you and having warm weather for once! :)
